Adult Spiritual Growth

We are a community supporting each other in faith, in all aspects of life. The body of Christ, the church, is critical to strengthening faith and growing in our spiritual journey.

Learn

With Sunday School classes for all life stages covering a broad range of interests, you are sure to find a home. All bond together outside the classroom with service and social opportunities, as well as inside the classroom with study and discussion. Check out the options below, and pop in any Sunday to catch the current topic of study.

Adult Sunday School Offerings

Covenant Westminster, Charles Little Activity Building, Room 6

Formed in the mid-1980’s, this is a class of mostly retirees enjoying their grandchildren, with class attendance of 20-30 each week. The class enjoys interesting discussion around a variety of Christian-related topics chosen each year by a class survey. Meets all year. For more information, contact David Beers.

Lectionary Class, Union Presbyterian Seminary, C101-102

This class explores the scripture readings outlined in the Revised Common Lectionary, a three-year cycle of weekly scripture readings used in most Presbyterian churches across the United States and Canada. The group examines the scripture readings (which are used in Worship two weeks later) and relates the themes to our modern world. You can count on a spirited and dynamic discussion! Open to all. For more information, contact Susie Banks.

Horizons, Chapel Building Room 202

Formed in the 1980’s as the newest “Young Adult Class”, Horizons has developed into a caring, active group of middle aged, empty nesters. With average attendance around 25, the class is an interactive environment to share beliefs, with lots of Q&A. Meets year-round. For more information, contact David Stanford.

Cornerstone, Sanctuary Building, Conference Room (Sept - May)

The Cornerstone Sunday School class includes parents with kids of all ages. Our group meets Sundays from 9:30 to 10:30 for spiritual learning on various topics, such as Christian parenting and living an uncommon life. Our current study covers John 13 - 17, Jesus's parting message to his disciples. We also plan regular social gatherings for the entire family and stewardship opportunities in the community. For more information, contact Brian Wieland.

All of these classes love to have new participants.
