Music Ministry

Music Ministry

Music plays a vital role in life at Sharon Presbyterian Church. Our three ensembles engage dozens of volunteers to provide music each week. The Music Ministry also offers musical events in our magnificent worship spaces for the entire Charlotte community.

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir is open to all who have a love and passion for singing and serving God through song. Come join our choir family. No experience or audition is required. The choir leads music weekly at our 10:30 a.m. Traditional Worship service from September to June.

Rehearsals are held Wednesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. in the Choir Room of the Sanctuary building.

What to Expect When Joining the Chancel Choir:

1.

A welcoming community of singers.

2.

A place to build lifelong friendships.

3.

To sing one anthem per week in the 10:30 Traditional Worship service.

4.

The opportunity to sing on special services such as Lessons and Carols, Christmas Eve, Maundy Thursday, or other occasions.

5.

The opportunity to sing a variety of genres of music from classical pieces to hymn arrangements, and music from different cultures.

6.

A place to share your musical gifts in service to God.

7.

Flexibility: We know you have a busy schedule and we encourage you to be at rehearsal when you can, but understand when you can’t attend.

Vocal Ensemble

The select 8-12 member Vocal Ensemble also sings regularly at Sharon’s 10:30 a.m. Traditional Worship service. Participation in the ensemble is at the discretion of the Director of Music. Vocal Ensemble members participate in the Chancel Choir, sight-read well, and generally have formal vocal training and/or experience in choral ensembles. Familiarity with foreign languages is helpful.

Rehearsals are held Wednesday evenings from 8:15 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Choir Room of the Sanctuary building.

Spirit Ringers

The Spirit Ringers are Sharon Presbyterian's handbell ensemble that is open to all ages. Spirit Ringers typically play during the prelude or offertory portion of the 10:30 am traditional service on Sundays once every 4-6 weeks. The ability to read music is not required to join but is encouraged. Spirit Ringers also participate in special services such as Lessons & Carols in December and Palm Sunday.
