We are a community supporting each other in faith, in all aspects of life. The body of Christ, the church, is critical to strengthening faith and growing in our spiritual journey.
With Sunday School classes for all life stages covering a broad range of interests, you are sure to find a home. All bond together outside the classroom with service and social opportunities, as well as inside the classroom with study and discussion. Check out the options below, and pop in any Sunday to catch the current topic of study.
Adult Sunday School Offerings
Covenant Westminster, Charles Little Activity Building, Room 6
Formed in the mid-1980’s, this is a class of mostly retirees enjoying their grandchildren, with class attendance of 20-30 each week. The class enjoys interesting discussion around a variety of Christian-related topics chosen each year by a class survey. Meets year-round. For more information, contact David Beers, Dennis Grills, or the church office.
Lectionary Class, Charles Little Activity Building, Parlor
This class explores the scripture readings outlined in the Revised Common Lectionary, a three-year cycle of weekly scripture readings used in most Presbyterian churches across the United States and Canada. The group examines the scripture readings (which are used in Worship two weeks later) and relates the themes to our modern world. You can count on a spirited and dynamic discussion! Open to all. For more information, contact Susie Banks or the church office.
Horizons, Barbara Ward Building, Room 202
Formed in the 1980’s as the “Young Adult Class”, Horizons has continued to evolve into a caring, active group of “late-middle” aged empty nesters who remain very active in supporting the mission of Sharon Presbyterian Church. With a roster of 30+ members, we generally have 15-20 in attendance each week. The lesson plan for each week includes a brief video presentation, followed by a facilitated study of the text for the week. The class is challenged to see the scripture as not only timely but timeless, just as God spoke to the original audience, so he still speaks to us through the pages of scripture. Meets year-round. For more information, contact David Stanford or the church office.
Cornerstone, Barbara Ward Building, Room 201
The Cornerstone Sunday School class is comprised of parents from various family backgrounds, representing different age groups. Their focus is on spiritual enrichment, covering topics such as Christian parenting and discussions about current events from a Christian perspective. Furthermore, they actively plan regular social gatherings for both their members and their families. Meets from September to May. For more information, contact Brian Wieland or the church office.
All of these classes love to have new participants.
